How does Prospect College help you find a Job?
Here at Prospect College all of our students get to take advantage of our Career Services office! Our Career Services staff is dedicated to working with our students to find them the best job that fits their career goals! Students in the Medical Assistant program and the Medical Office Administration program participate in an externship where they get to try their hand at working in the medical field before they even graduate.
How do externships for Medical students work?
After our Medical students complete their first seven courses they participate in an externship. This means students get to go to a medical office in the local area and learn what working as a medical assistant or medical office administrator.
While students are still in their classes our Career Services coordinator will meet with students approaching their externship to find out what their dream job in the medical field is. Questions include what kind of medical specialty students are interested in and what area in the DMV they want to work in. Our Career Services specialists will help with students’ resumes and set up some interviews with externship sites. After students complete their externship many even receive job offers from their externship site! If you are not one of those lucky students our Career Services department will continue working with you to help you land your first job in the medical field and start your career!
What can Career Services do for Computer Specialist students?
Our computer specialist students also get to take advantage of our Career Services department. During their program, Computer Specialist students will have a course on professional development. In addition, our Career Services department will help these students with their resumes and interview preparation. As these students get closer to graduation the Career Service specialists will help set up interviews for these students to help them start their careers!
Can Prospect College graduates still use our Career Services?
Yes! Our graduates can still use our Career Services! After graduation, if you are looking for a new job our career services department can help you with your resume and may even be able to set up some interviews for you! When local medical offices reach out to host a job fair on campus we will also reach out to our graduates and help set up interviews for them as well. Once a Prospect College student always a Prospect College Student!
